Healthcare Revenue Group Credentialing Case Study

Multi-State Specialty Credentialing
From 4 providers to 30: credentialing that kept pace with an 8-state expansion
A specialty group opening clinics across eight states, with providers credentialed in 30 to 60 days instead of the usual 90 to 120, so growth never waited on paperwork.

The situation
An established pulmonary and asthma specialty group set out to grow fast, opening multiple clinics at once and expanding from a single state toward eight. That meant coordinating multi-state licensing, provider credentialing, and payer enrollment all at the same time, with several closed payer panels in the new markets. The group needed a partner already working coast to coast, and came to HRG on a direct referral from someone who had seen the work firsthand.
What HRG built
HRG's credentialing lead, Mellissa Harmon, ran the expansion's credentialing end to end:
Clean applications the first time, with complete documentation, attested CAQH profiles, and compliant NPPES and NPI records, avoiding the corrections that stall approvals
Established national and regional payer relationships, so the team knew the right contacts and escalation paths
Appeals on closed payer panels, advocating directly until each new location was contracted
The results
Providers were credentialed in 30 to 60 days, up to 90 days sooner than standard timelines, so they could bill almost immediately and openings stayed on schedule. Closed panels reopened through appeals. The practice scaled from about 4 providers, 13 payers, and one state to about 30 providers, 50 payers, and eight states, now serving roughly 40 rehabilitation centers and two hospitals. Through the critical stages, Mellissa took calls at midnight and 4 a.m. whenever an issue could affect an opening, an approval, or revenue.
"In an area where delays and administrative obstacles can significantly impact a practice's operations and revenue, Mellissa has been a trusted partner who delivers on her commitments and advocates tirelessly on behalf of her clients."
